Rains: 40 trees fell, 10 walls collapsed in Mumbai; one killed in short circuit

Mumbai: The island city of Mumbai recorded an average of 47.93 mm of rainfall in the 10 hours ending 6 pm on Monday, while the eastern and western parts of the metropolis recorded 18.82 mm and 31.74 mm, respectively. “In the 24 hours ending 8 am, the island city of Mumbai recorded an average of 115.63 mm of rainfall, while East Mumbai recorded 168.68 mm and West Mumbai 165.93 mm of rainfall. The city reported 40 cases of falling trees or branches, but no loss of life was reported. Some vehicles were damaged,” a civic official said.

“The city reported 12 incidents of short circuit in which a 72-year-old woman died in Santacruz East. The woman suffered burn injuries in a fire that broke out due to short circuit in a room of Haji Siddhika Chawl on Datta Mandir Road.
