On July 9, powerful explosions occurred in the Belgorod, Volgograd and Rostov regions of Russia, which resulted in a fire.

Points of attention

  • A drone attack on an oil depot occurred in the Volgograd region of Russia.
  • In the Rostov region, explosions and a fire at a power station caused by a drone attack were also reported.
  • In the Belgorod region, local authorities again announced “shelling” and urged the population to evacuate.

What is known about the situation in the Volgograd region?

According to the latest information, drones attacked the city of Kalach-on-Don in the Volgograd region of Russia: the target was a local oil depot.

This information was confirmed by the Kremlin’s protégé in the region, Andrei Bocharov.

According to him, around 4:00 a.m. there were ten explosions in the city.

Subsequently, a large-scale fire broke out at the oil depot, and a black column of smoke is visible from various parts of the city.

Bocharov said Russian air defense and electronic warfare systems intercepted the drone, but falling debris caused fires at a substation in Frolov and at an oil depot in Kalach-on-Don.

The fire at the substation was reportedly quickly extinguished, but power was not restored.

Firefighters work at the scene of an accident at an oil depot.

What’s happening in the Rostov region

According to local “governor” Vasily Golubev, at night in this region of the Russian Federation there were powerful explosions, enemy anti-aircraft artillery operated, and a fire broke out at a power station.

Before the fire broke out in the Rodionovo-Nesvitai district, the characteristic sounds of a drone’s flight were heard, followed by a loud explosion. Several explosions were also heard near Rostov and in the Morozov region, the report said.

It was also reported that at about 2:00 a.m. a massive drone attack began in the Rostov region.

Local authorities say dozens of drones were involved in the incident.

In Rostov-on-Don, where the debris of an unmanned aerial vehicle fell, a fire broke out and was quickly extinguished.

As for the Belgorod region, local authorities again announce “shelling” and urge the population to evacuate.
