Investigators seek information in June homicide in Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is asking witnesses or anyone with information to come forward regarding a homicide that occurred in June.

Elias Jkhael Delk, 28, was killed June 15 at Dollar General, 1710 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, according to the sheriff’s office.

Coroner Mark Bowen said Delk appeared to have died from multiple blunt force trauma.

Deputies responded to the 1700 block of Martin Luther King Jr. around 4:45 a.m. to investigate a suspicious situation.

Bowen said he was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:45 a.m.

Crime in the region

Communities large and small have been affected on both sides of the Savannah River, but as the largest city in the region, Augusta has been hit particularly hard.

This death is one of the latest in a series epidemic of deadly violence that has left more than 150 dead in the CSRA in just over two years.
