Fatal motorcycle crash leads to homicide, DUI charges

Fatal motorcycle crash leads to homicide, DUI chargesJACKSON TWP., COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police are charging a man with vehicular homicide after they say he caused a head-on collision that killed a motorcyclist.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, on July 3 around 3 p.m., officers were called to State Route 118 and Mountain Road in Jackson Township for a motorcycle and car accident.

After further investigation, police say the motorcycle was traveling east on SR 118 when a car driven by Craig Evans was traveling west at a high rate of speed and illegally passing cars in the eastbound lane.

Police say Evans collided head-on with a 22-year-old motorcyclist while passing cars. Evans was taken to Geisinger Medical Center. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The PSP said it charged Evans with vehicular homicide while driving under the influence of alcohol, aggravated assault by motor vehicle while driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol and other traffic violations.
