4 homicides, 5 dead after 24 hours of violence in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Five people are dead and four separate homicide investigations have been launched after 24 hours of violence around Charlotte.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police responded to the latest homicide investigation around 1 a.m. near 3800 Statesville Ave. in north Charlotte. A victim was found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. There is no mention of a suspect or arrest at this time.


Also overnight, a homicide investigation, which was later upgraded to a death investigation, took place in south Charlotte. Another homicide took place in west Charlotte Monday night on Parker Drive after a quadruple shot around 9 p.m. on Parker Drive.

Another homicide investigation took place Monday around 5:30 p.m. on Cinnabay Drive in north Charlotte and involved a fatal shooting. The first homicide investigation took place around 5 a.m. Monday near Rea Road. The victim in that case was identified as 36-year-old Derrick Byas.

No other victims have yet been identified in these cases, no arrests have been made and all investigations remain active.
