Patna:Another bridge collapsed in Bihar on Wednesday. This time, the incident was reported from Saharsa district in the state. This is the 13th case of bridge collapse reported from the state in just three weeks.

Where did the bridge collapse?

A bridge collapsed in Mahishi village in Saharsa. No injuries were reported in the incident. An additional information collector on the collapse said, β€œIt could be a small bridge or a causeway. District officials have already gone to the spot to inspect the collapsed structure. Information on the incident is being collected.”

The Nitish Kumar government has come under heavy criticism for repeated bridge collapses in the state. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav criticised the government not only for the incidents of bridge collapses but also for document leaks in the state and the deteriorating law and order situation. He said inflation, crime, poverty and unemployment are rising unchecked.

He said that no positive action was being taken in Bihar and that he simply did not understand what this “twin-engine” government was doing for the state.

Just a week ago, state CM Nitish Kumar had directed officials to conduct a survey of all old bridges in Bihar. He asked them to identify those that need repair and repair them at the earliest. Earlier, the government had suspended 15 engineers after a series of bridge collapses in Siwan, Saran, Madhubani, Araria, East Champaran and Kishanganj.
