Crews respond to Southern Pines crash

Tuesday morning, authorities responded to a report of a crash in Southern Pines at the intersection of South May Street and East Massachusetts Avenue.

Drivers were forced to reroute as officials closed part of South May Street around 10:30 a.m.

The Jeep overturned on its roof; The car suffered front-end damage and a torn-off bumper.

The street was strewn with rubble and broken glass.

According to radio reports, one person was injured.

Southern Pines Fire and Rescue said on its Facebook page that part of the road was closed for an hour while they treated a patient, removed cars and cleaned up debris. The cause of the crash was unclear.
