A woman’s boyfriend is suspected of shooting and killing her ex-boyfriend after an argument in the Southeast Valley turned violent Monday night.

The 7:07 p.m. incident at an apartment near Boulder Highway and Desert Inn Road turned violent, and the current boyfriend pulled out a gun and shot the ex-boyfriend, according to Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Jason Johansson.

The suspect fled in an undescribed vehicle before police arrived.

Johansson said the ex-boyfriend and a woman in her 30s had an agreement that her ex-boyfriend would come and look after their child from time to time.

The victim was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

A child was in the apartment at the time of the shooting but was not injured.
