Lower East Side, New York (July 9, 2024) – Three people died and seven others were injured when a suspected drunk driver drove his vehicle into a park on the Lower East Side of New York City. Authorities report that the accident occurred on Thursday evening, July 4. The driver of a gray Ford F-150, 44-year-old Daniel Hyden, struck several pedestrians just before 9 p.m. on Water Street. Reports show that he ran a stop sign, drove over a curb and crashed into Corelears Hook Park. When police arrived on the scene, his truck was on top of four people. Hyden has been charged with several different crimes related to the crash, including vehicular homicide involving violence, in which more than one person was killed. Lower East Side police are still investigating the details of the crash.
