Raiders’ X-factors to explode in 2024

New Las Vegas Raiders assistant coach Marvin Lewis recently said the team should be more explosive in 2024. Let’s take a look at a few players who could provide that explosion on both sides of the ball:

Brock Bowers:

The tight end from Georgia was considered a luxury pick when the Raiders surprisingly selected him with the 13th pick. Although the position was an area of need and the Raiders had more pressing holes to fill, they took Bowers because general manager Tom Telesco said the offense needed juice. Bowers is considered one of the best tight end prospects in years, in part because he is so versatile. He can be slotted in multiple positions and has the chance to exploit defenses. Bowers has been fascinated by the fact that he helps the offense become more explosive. He has the chance to pay off right away.

Jack jones:

The cornerback showed he could be a positive influence on defenses when he was acquired from New England in the second half of the season. He has scored touchdowns in two straight games. He has a knack for being in the right place at the right time. He needs to work on his consistency, but there’s no doubt he can help create big plays. The key for the third-year player is to give the defense more explosion than bland plays.

Malcolm Koonce:

We saw what he can do for this defense when he exploded in his third season after Las Vegas took him in the third round in 2021. Koonce had eight sacks last season after just two combined in his first two seasons. Koonce was a pressure machine late last season. If he can keep that up in 2024, he’ll be an unrealistic asset to star pass rusher Maxx Crosby. Koonce could be a huge reason for the Raiders’ explosiveness this season.

Jackson Powers-Johnson:

The second-round pick from Oregon is loaded with power, which could help provide explosiveness in both the passing and running game. If the quarterback starts as a rookie, he has the potential to make a big impact on the offense and help create a tough presence that could lead to a more explosive offense.

Tre Tucker:

The 2023 third-rounder has shown flashes of the explosiveness he can bring to the passing game. The pass rusher has the ability to make big plays. He just needs to become more consistent and learn to finish more plays. If he can take that next step in 2024, the Raiders’ offense could be pretty tough to stop.

Christian Wilkins:

The big prize for the Raiders’ veterans this offseason is a top-tier defensive playmaker. He should help in all aspects of the game up front and could help Crosby become more explosive. Getting that piece makes the Raiders’ defensive line one of the better units in the league. The explosiveness of that line could be off the charts.

Half of those players are rookies who were added because they could be dynamic additions to the lineup. All of those players will provide increased explosiveness in different aspects of the lineup. If everything works out, Lewis and the Raiders coaching staff will get what he’s looking for.
