Teen charged with manslaughter after dangerously changing lanes and sending tractor-trailer into house

A young driver is facing criminal charges in connection with a crash between a tractor-trailer and a structure that killed a truck driver in Texas in late June.

An identified teenager turned himself into police custody after being released from the hospital, Valley Central reports.

The teen was charged with negligent homicide for an unsafe lane change that caused a crash that left tractor-trailer driver Anastacio Martinez Jr., 51, dead in Mission, Texas, on June 29, 2024.

Around 9 a.m., Martinez was driving on W. Expressway 83 when he lost control and left the roadway, crashing into a business parking lot, hitting a pickup truck and then crashing into an unoccupied home.

Martinez died at the scene.

The driver of the Fiat involved in the accident was taken to hospital. No one else was injured.

The house collapsed as the truck was being removed from the structure.
