George Clooney Calls on Joe Biden to WITHDRAW from 2024 Presidential Race, Slams His Brutal Debate Performance

George Clooney, a lifelong Democrat, turned his back on President Joe Biden and demanded he drop out of the 2024 presidential race after his disastrous debate performance and widespread concerns about whether he would last another four years.

The Hollywood star, who has been organizing fundraisers for the 81-year-old, said in a devastating op-ed for The New York Times on Wednesday morning that Biden will not win the “race against time.”

The actor also condemned Democratic Party leaders for ignoring “every warning sign” of Biden’s deteriorating physical and mental health and for trying to defend his car crash performance to Donald Trump.

He added that Democratic voters “collectively hold their breath or turn down the volume every time they see a president we respect step off Air Force One or return to the microphone to answer an unscheduled question.”

Clooney joined dozens of Democrats and Biden allies who have called on the president to step down within two weeks of his meandering, purring appearance on CNN. The actor has hosted some of the largest fundraisers in the party’s history, including one last month for Biden’s reelection bid.

Biden insists he is not going anywhere and that he will beat Trump in November anyway, but Clooney’s comments are a huge blow to his campaign, which is in a difficult position.

“Joe Biden is a hero; he saved democracy in 2020. We need him to do it again in 2024,” the actor wrote in an editorial.

Clooney, who hosted a star-studded fundraising event for Biden in Los Angeles on June 16, said the person he saw there was the candidate the world saw at last week’s presidential debate.

“I love Joe Biden. As a senator. As a vice president and as a president. I consider him a friend and I believe in him. I believe in his character. I believe in his morals. He has won many of the battles he has faced over the last four years,” Clooney wrote.

“But the one battle he can’t win is the battle against time. None of us can. It’s devastating, but the Joe Biden I was at a fundraiser with three weeks ago was not the ‘big f—‘ Joe Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all saw at the debate,” he said.

Biden and Clooney have a long relationship, dating back to Biden’s time as chairman of the Senate Foreign Service Committee. Clooney worked on issues in Darfur and established a rapport with him.

The president honored Clooney for his support by hosting him at the White House for the Kennedy Center Honors in December 2022.

The actor has become a major force in the Democratic Party, raising millions for its candidates. He is seen as an influential voice in American politics.

His opposition to Biden could also damage the Democratic Party.

Big-time Hollywood donors were said to be furious with campaign co-chair Jeffrey Katzenberg following Biden’s debate performance.

Donors, like many Biden supporters, said they felt misled and betrayed about the president’s health.

Clooney believed it was more important to defeat Donald Trump in November than to keep Biden on the candidate list.

“Our party leaders need to stop telling us that 51 million people did not see what we just saw. We are all so terrified of a second Trump term that we have chosen to ignore every warning sign,” he wrote.

However, Biden and Clooney have also encountered some difficulties in their relationship.

It was revealed on Thursday that the actor was reportedly furious at the White House in early June after Biden criticized an attempt by Clooney’s wife, Amal, who is his lawyer, to jail the Israeli prime minister.

Last month, Amal Clooney signed a request by the International Criminal Court’s chief prosecutor to arrest Benjamin Netanyahu along with Hamas leaders for war crimes – a move the president condemned as “outrageous”.

Clooney reportedly called one of Biden’s closest advisers to express his feelings.

Still, he hosted a fundraiser later that month — with actress Julia Roberts and former President Barack Obama — that raised $30 million for Biden’s campaign last month.

But the fundraiser was overshadowed by questions about the president’s health after a video emerged showing Obama telling Biden to leave the stage.

The video shows Biden and Obama waving and smiling as they receive a standing ovation at the Peacock Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.

Biden claps and gives the crowd a thumbs up, then stops and stares at the crowd for several long seconds.

Then Obama, still smiling and waving, grabbed Biden’s wrist and gave it a gentle tug. The president seemed to snap out of it.

They then leave the stage and Obama talks into Biden’s ear and pats him on the back.

The White House has called the video fake. Officials also noted that the fundraiser took place a day after Biden returned from the G7 summit in Italy.

Already, some prominent Democrats say Clooney is right.

“I’m concerned,” Michael Douglas, a longtime Biden supporter, told ABC’s The View. “I think that’s a fair observation,” he said of Clooney’s article.

Biden is having a hard time uniting Democrats behind his presidential bid as talk of him dropping out of the race grows louder.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is among those apparently questioning Biden’s decision to stay in the race.

“It’s up to the president to decide whether he’s going to run. We all encourage him to make that decision. Because time is running out,” she told Morning Joe on Wednesday.

Some Democratic lawmakers have expressed doubts about Biden’s ability to defeat Trump.

Clooney said he has spoken to members of Congress who have expressed such concerns, including fears that the Democratic Party would lose its majorities in the House of Representatives and the Senate.

“We will not win in November with this president. On top of that, we will not win the House and we will lose the Senate. This is not just my opinion; it is the opinion of every senator, member of Congress and governor I have spoken to privately. Every single one, regardless of what they say publicly,” he wrote.

In his opinion, the candidate should be elected at the Democratic National Convention, which will be held in Chicago on August 19-22.

The actor has proposed a number of candidates who could replace Biden and win the election in November.

“Let’s hear from Wes Moore, Kamala Harris, Gretchen Whitmer, Gavin Newsome, Andy Beshear, JB Pritzker and others,” he said, naming several governors and the vice president.

“Let’s agree that the candidates won’t attack each other, but in the short time we have, let’s focus on what’s going to make this country grow. Then we can go to the Democratic convention next month and figure it out,” he added.

Biden insists he will stay in the race.

On Monday, he sent a letter to all Democratic lawmakers announcing his decision. He also reached out to party officials, donors and mayors in an attempt to shore up his support among party faithful.

“I want you to know that despite all the speculation in the press and elsewhere, I am committed to staying in this race, taking it to the end, and defeating Donald Trump,” Biden wrote to Democrats.
