Dubai’s road fatality rate has reduced by a staggering 93 per cent between 2007 and 2023.

The emirate’s mortality rate last year was the lowest on record, at 1.6 deaths per 100,000 people, below the target of level 2.

The statistics were released on Wednesday when the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Police held a coordination meeting to review the results of the Dubai Road Safety Strategy.

The officials also discussed the safety of public transport users and the Dubai Police’s requirements regarding the Blue Line project on the Dubai Metro.

“RTA is committed to achieving the set indicators of the Dubai Road Safety Strategy with the vision of ‘Zero Fatalities’, making Dubai the best road safety city in the world,” said Mattar Al Tayer, CEO and Chairman of the RTA Executive Board.

Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, praised the strategic partnership with the RTA, which he said had contributed to the establishment of joint systems and the achievement of enhanced road safety objectives in Dubai.
