Northbound Interstate 5 has reopened after a vehicle fire blocked traffic and narrowed the highway to a single lane in Salem Wednesday afternoon between the Kuebler Boulevard and Market Street interchanges.

The Oregon Department of Transportation is warning drivers that there may be delays during the afternoon rush hour until the congestion clears.

ODOT reported the incident at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at milepost 255. Traffic was backed up for at least 5 miles.

I-5 southbound was scheduled to be closed Wednesday evening starting at 9 p.m. at the Market Street NE bridge. One lane was to remain open to traffic.
