Crash in Seven Lakes blocks part of Highway 211

A two-vehicle crash in the West End neighborhood of Seven Lakes on Tuesday resulted in partial closure of Highway 211. Just before 5 p.m., emergency services were called to a crash involving an overturned SUV at the intersection of Highway 211 and Seven Lakes Drive.

Seven Lakes Fire and Rescue posted on its Facebook page that a portion of Route 211 is closed and that it will provide an update when the road is cleared.

About 25 minutes later, Seven Lakes Fire and Rescue posted a public service announcement on its Facebook page.

“When our crews are directing traffic around a car accident, please pay attention to their signals and instructions, do not use your phones!!!” the fire department wrote. “We understand that everyone has a place to go and we do our best to keep traffic moving as efficiently as possible, but we need your help. Never drive between cones unless specifically asked to do so, and NEVER drive through our cones!!”

It is unclear if anyone was injured.

This is the second capsized wreck the Sandhills Sentinel reported on Tuesday.

Authorities responded to a report of a crash that occurred this morning in Southern Pines at the intersection of South May Street and East Massachusetts Avenue. Drivers were forced to reroute as officials closed part of South May Street around 10:30 a.m.

The Jeep overturned on its roof, the car sustained front-end damage and a torn-off bumper.
