Arrest for March homicide in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A second man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder and faces additional charges in connection with a March homicide on Chestnut Street in Portsmouth, police said Wednesday.

Omario Keyshawn Evans, 23, has not only been charged with second-degree murder, but he has also been charged with malicious shooting, cutting or stabbing and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in the March 17 death of Damarcus Dildy.

Around 2:15 a.m. the morning of the shooting, police responded to the 2400 block of Chestnut Street for a shooting and when officers arrived on scene, they found Dildy, 29, with multiple gunshot wounds, police said. Dildy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have already arrested Omar Tyrone Evans38, in connection with Dildy’s death on April 8. At that time, police said investigators with the Major Crimes Unit were still searching for Evans and Amari Deon Adams, 21.
