LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A historic clothing store in downtown Lansing that has been in business for 150 years was damaged during Tuesday’s downpour.

Matt McLeod, general manager of Kositchek’s Menswear, says the store is temporarily closed due to a partial roof collapse. The store’s official Facebook page posted the following information Wednesday:

Leaves and other debris were strewn across the floor inside the store Wednesday afternoon. Store employees spent the afternoon assessing the damage, and staff were processing pickup orders.

The general manager said the damage was noticed when he came to open the store Wednesday morning.

“It looked like a tornado had gone through. I mean, stuff was flying off the shelves and there was just (a lot of) debris all over the store,” McLeod said. “And as I went further into the store, I realized the building had partially collapsed. It was still raining, water was pouring in.”

A Lansing city spokesman said no other downtown businesses reported damage from Tuesday’s storms.
