Tragic Deaths from ‘The Chi’ That We Still Mourn and Can’t Come to terms with

Since the premiere of the first season in 2018. Chi has been hailed as a gripping, original series that shows what life is like in one of the country’s largest metropolises.

The action takes place on the south side of Chicago, Chi not only refers to the crime and violence that have plagued the city and made headlines for decades, but also to the love and care its residents have for each other.

Created by Primetime Emmy Award winner and Tony Award nominee Lena Waithe, the series brilliantly captures the hardships of life on the Southside and in many other predominantly black neighborhoods while emphasizing the strength of family and community.

However, Chi doesn’t shy away from the harsh realities that can happen when nefarious forces like anger and greed come into play, which has led to the tragic deaths of many characters on the show.

While it’s debatable whether some of these deaths were deserved or premature, the impact these characters had on viewers cannot be overstated, and their departures were one of the most pivotal moments in the entire series.

With the recent conclusion of the sixth season of the series, VIBE looks back at the deaths Chi which viewers still cannot come to terms with.
